North Macedonia's Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, who is paying a working visit to Germany, will leave Berlin for the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

The aim of Osmani's visit to Germany is to reaffirm the country's position on the EU dossier of North Macedonia and Berlin's support for "the urgent need to unblock" the process of Skopje's accession to the EU, as North Macedonia's Foreign Ministry put it.

The negotiation framework for North Macedonia's planned accession to the EU was vetoed by Bulgaria in November 2020 on account of Skopje's perceived failure to protect the rights of Bulgarians in North Macedonia and due to the continuous use of hate speech against Bulgaria. Sofia's grievances are set out in a framework position approved by the National Assembly.
