site.btaBulgaria, Serbia Sign Agreement on Cross-border Environmental Assessment
Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov paid an official visit to Belgrade, Serbia. A bilateral agreement on environmental impact assessment (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA) in a cross-border context was signed at a meeting with Serbian Environment Minister Irena Vujovic, the Ministry of Environment and Water said on Friday.
The agreement aims to regulate the terms and conditions for conducting procedures and public consultations, including public hearings on the territories of both countries, the procedure for exchanging documentation and its public disclosure, and releasing it in both official languages, the Environment Ministry said.
The ministers discussed current issues in the field of environment and water, and expressed readiness for fruitful future co-operation.
Ministers Sandov and Vujovic approved a plan for the 2022-2023 period for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the two ministries and for cooperation in the field of environmental protection, signed on January 22, 2019 in the Serbian town of Dimitrovgrad.
