site.btaBulgaria and Croatia Sign Agreement on Cooperation in Disaster Management

Bulgaria's Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov and Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic signed an agreement on cooperation in disaster management, the Interior Ministry in Sofia said Tuesday. Bozinovic was on a visit in Bulgaria at Rashkov's invitation. The two sides also discussed the situation in Ukraine, their commitments to provide protection to Ukrainian refugees and the migration situation along the Eastern Mediterranean route.

They exchanged opinions on the new migration pact and the new strategy for a stronger Schengen area, and underscored the importance of mutual trust and cooperation, as well as of regular professional and political dialogue. They agreed that the management of migration and the protection of the EU external border are areas where Bulgaria and Croatia can cooperate more within the EU.

The agreement on cooperation in disaster management that was signed during Bozinovic's visit sets a framework for interaction in preventing and responding to disasters, the terms and procedures for voluntary assistance between the two countries in the event of disasters, and the management of natural and man-made disasters.
