Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Angel Angelov, Bulgarian Consul General in Bitola Dimitar Ivanov and Embassy officers gathered at the grave of Spaska Mitreva in Gevgelija on Saturday to commemorate the second anniversary of her death.

The case of Spaska Mitreva (also known as Mitrova) started as a private dispute over the custody of her daughter but eventually required diplomatic intervention because Mitreva had declared officially that she was Bulgarian. Born in Gevgelija, in the southeast of North Macedonia, she died from cancer in 2020.
