The seven members of a Bulgarian crew aboard a cargo vessel which broke down off Southern Greece are well, the Greek port authorities said, quoted by AFP.
The Panama-flagged vessel sent out a distress call this morning after the crew found a leak.
The ship quickly began to sink, a representative for the port police told AFP.
A helicopter transported the seven–member crew to the nearby Kalamata.
All crew members are well and have been admitted to hospital as a precaution, a representative for the police said.
The ship was transporting cement from Turkey to Italy.
In the area there was a strong wind whose speed exceeded 30 km/h but so far the cause for the breakdown has not been found.
