A total of 28,910 tablets and 1,000 ampoules of injectable solution containing precursors for the production of synthetic drugs were seized by the customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint. The contraband medicinal products were found during a customs inspection of a bus with passengers entering Bulgaria from Turkey, the Customs Agency said on Wednesday.
On July 18, at around 23.00, a bus with Turkish number plates arrived at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, travelling from Turkey to Romania via Bulgaria. In the customs control area, the driver and all passengers declared that they were carrying only personal luggage and goods in non-commercial quantities. During the customs inspection of the vehicle and the luggage of the passengers, the inspectors found in hand luggage and in plastic bags under the back seat of the bus a total of 28,910 tablets of two types of medicinal product with the main ingredient pseudoephedrine, as well as 1,000 ampoules of ephedrine injection solution.
It was established that the entire quantity of medicines was carried by one of the passengers on the bus - a Romanian citizen with the initials M.K.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated by an investigating customs inspector and are being conducted under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.
