site.btaUPDATED Bulgarians to Be Able to Enter Turkey with Identity Card

Bulgarian nationals will be able to enter Turkey with just an identity card, following a decree of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gazetted on Wednesday. At present, Bulgarians need an international passport to visit Turkey.  

Bulgarians can use an ID card when transiting through Turkey or paying a tourist visit for up to 90 days within a period of 180 days, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry confirmed for BTA.

According to the Bulgarian Consulate General in Edirne, the head of the Kapikule border crossing and the director of the regional security directorate in Edirne said that at present they have not received additional instructions on entry into Turkey with a Bulgarian identity card and on when the new regime will come into effect.
