The Bulgarian head of State, Rumen Radev, will pay a visit to Moldova on October 27 and 28 at the invitation of Moldova’s President Maia Sandu. The visit will take place in the context of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic the two countries, which is marked this year, Radev’s Press Secretariat reported here on Wednesday.

Further deepening economic and trade ties between the Bulgaria and Moldova, cooperation in the area of European integration and regional partnership in Southeast Europe will be discussed during the visit.

President Radev’s meetings will focus on the conditions for preserving the culture and national identity of the Bulgarian diaspora in Moldova. According to official data, the Bulgarian community in Moldova exceeds 50,000 people, making them the sixth largest ethnic group in that country.

On October 28, Rumen Radev will visit the Moldovan town of Taraclia, which is predominantly populated by ethnic Bulgarians, and will join the celebrations of the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians, October 29, which is one of the most important holidays of the Bulgarian community in Moldova. President Radev will also attend the opening of a new and completely renovated Bulgarian News Agency press club in Taraclia. 

During his visit, the Bulgarian head of State will meet with his Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu and the President of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu.
