The King Boris III Bulgarian club in Ohrid has been attacked again. According to Bulgarian diplomatic sources in the Republic of North Macedonia, somebody shot at the club with a firearm. The Foreign Ministry in Skopje has condemned the attack.
The Ohrid police chief Stefan Dimoski said that an alert for the attack was received at 19:12 hrs on Wednesday and the police patrol that responded to it found two holes from a firearm on the club's window.
The case has been reported to a prosecutor.
Only a couple of days ago unknown attackers threw stones at the club, smashing the window and the club sign. The club's sign was also smashed only days after its opening in October.
In its reaction to the attack, the Foreign Ministry in Skopje expressed concern that "these acts of vandalism occur too close within one another". "Such acts are inadmissible, can jeopardize a human life and enhance the retrograde processes which go counter the European integration of the country," said the Ministry.
It also urges the competent institutions to investigate the attacks, take immediate action to find the perpetrators, and take additional actions to ensure adequate conditions for the operation of this and all other culture clubs and associations in the country.
"All citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia have equal freedom of association to exercise their rights and beliefs. These are human and civil rights and liberties, guaranteed by the law and the Constitution. The State, as a reliable candidate for EU accession, needs to safeguard them," the statement also says.
