A Balkan Association of Economics Universities was founded at the Higher School of Insurance and Finance. The Association is established at the initiative of the higher school and brings together universities from Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Turkiye, Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo, the school said.
"I am extremely happy that today we are launching an association which brings together economics universities from the Balkan region. I believe that the united efforts for creating a sustainable environment for higher education, scientific and academic exchange will contribute to the economic development of our region and in particular of higher education in the field of economics,” said school’s Rector Boris Velchev.
Among the main goals of the Balkan Association will be aligning the economics programmes in order to facilitate the mutual recognition of diplomas and training, student, teachers and administration mobility under the Erasmus Programme, and other mobility programmes. The Association will lay the grounds for the introduction of joint bachelor and masters degree programmes.
Boris Velchev, Rector of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance, was elected chairman of the Managing Board of the Balkan Association. The Association is open to accepting universities from all Balkan countries.
As one of its first activities, the Balkan Association of Economics Universities will hold an international conference, entitled “The Economy of the Future”, which will take place in Sofia between April 19 and 21 of next year.
