site.btaBulgarian MEP Vitanov: Preserving Traditions and Bulgarianness Stands above Political Bacchanalia
"The first time when I visited Bosilegrad I was in shock. We think we have a hard time but when you come here and see how hard it is to preserve memory, kinship and motherland, you understand what hardship is. I perceive Bosilegrad as my conscience. The strive to preserve the tradition, culture and Bulgarianness not just in Bulgaria but beyond, is greater that the entire political bacchanalia," Bulgarian MEP Peter Vitanov said, speaking at a news conference hosted by BTA's press club there on the occasion of the seventh anniversary since the establishment of the press club.
Attending the event was former chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly Dimiter Glavchev.
Glavchev said that the political crisis is having an adverse impact while politics constitutes protecting the interests of the Bulgarians not only of expatriate Bulgarians.
BTA correspondent to Bosilegrad Alexander Dimitrov said that the most important thing is for Bulgaria to have a stable government. He urged all politicians to treat the issue with the utmost seriousness.
Among the guests at the news conference were Olympic boxing medalist Tervel Pulev, actress Elena Karaboycheva and director-producer Atanas Mihaylov as representatives of the campaign entitled "Successful Bulgarians Set Personal Example".
A special guest at the event was the chairman of the Bosilegrad culture and information centre, Ivan Nikolov, who spoke about some of the key events in the past year. "The spiral of elections in Bulgaria had an adverse impact on expatriate Bulgarians. The political crisis displaced the problems of the Bulgarians abroad, along with other issues. As a new year's wish for 2023 we want Bulgaria to raise certain issues in a more categorical way. Some such issues are forcing young people into seeking alternative places to live and go," Nikolov said.
On December 11, 2015, BTA opened its first press club outside Bulgaria: in Bosilengrad, Serbia. A second press club was opened several years later in Taraclia, Moldova, and a third one in early 2022 in Skopje in the Republic of North Macedonia.
