site.btaWriters' Unions in Bulgaria, Serbia Prepare Bilingual Anthology Containing Works by 60 Authors
A bilingual anthology containing works by 60 authors is being prepared and will be published by the writers' unions in Bulgaria and Serbia. It was agreed between the President of the Union of Bulgarian Writers (UBW), Boyan Angelov, and Jeremija Lazarevic, authorized representative of Milos Jankovic - President of the Association of Writers Serbia. The volume is expected to be presented in the second half of 2023, the UBW said.
Angelov and Lazarevic held a meeting to sign an annex to the existing contract for joint activities between Bulgaria and Serbia. The event was also attended by Sofia Writers Association Chairman Zahari Ivanov, Angela Dimcheva - international and press secretary of the UBW, writer Hristo Slavov and Serbian authors Branko Ristic, Dejan Mastilovic, Vlada Simic.
The anthology is planned to have two faces and will contain works by 30 Bulgarian and 30 Serbian writers. Angelov and Jankovic will be editors of the book, while publishing is undertaken by Dejan Mastilovic.
The two organizations agreed that five more books by Bulgarian authors will be published in Serbia, as well as five volumes by Serbian writers will be presented to the public in Bulgaria. The publication of anthologies of Bulgarian and Serbian short stories is also planned by the end of 2024. The UBW has also proposed the establishment of an international poetry prize entitled "Mr. Danube" to be awarded every two years.
The ideas for joint activities between the two writers' societies are to be approved by their boards.
