Customs officers have found on a bus and seized over 2.7 kg of gold castings worth BGN 234,243 at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Turkish border, the Customs Agency reported Friday.

The Turkish-registered bus, which services a route between Turkiye and Romania via Bulgaria, arrived at the border crossing on Wednesday. It was carrying ten passengers and two drivers. A package was discovered under the driver seat, which was found to be containing the undeclared 14 karat gold.

The two drivers, both Turkish citizens, have been charged with failing to declare the precious metals.
