Newly-appointed Greek Ambassador Alexios Marios Liberopoulos presented his letters of credence to Deputy Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said.
The two diplomats reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Greece, which have a strategic character. The active and constructive dialogue in a bilateral aspect and within the European Union, NATO and the international organizations is an example of goodneighbourly relations in the region.
The sides discussed topics on the EU agenda, including the European prospects of the Western Balkan countries, and the energy crisis, caused by Russia's aggression in Ukraine.
Bulgaria's bid to join Schengen was also on the agenda. Deputy Minister Petrova thanked Greece for the support during the accession process. Petrova underscored Bulgaria's commitment to continue its efforts to achieve a positive decision in 2023.
Petrova wished Liberopoulos success and expressed confidence in the advancement of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.
