site.btaExpert Council for Economic Analyses to Assist Institutions with Economic Development

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Management Atanas Pekanov on Tuesday presented a concept for the establishment of an expert council for economic analyses. At a news conference at the Council of Ministers Pekanov explained that based on the best practices and traditions in other countries, the Council will seek to provide the Bulgarian public and institutions with comprehensive expertise on topical issues to assist in decision making.

The aim is to offer solutions for the better development of the Bulgarian economy, said the Deputy Prime Minister. According to him, such councils operate across the whole of Europe and in other countries and with their work they help in making better decisions for the more successful economic development, based on the accomplishments of a modern economy. 

The Council will be an advisory body and will be chaired by Plamen Nenov, associate professor in economics at the Norwegian Business School. 

The Council will comprise leading world economists who work in various areas of economics and are among Bulgarian scientists who publish in leading academic publications They include Petyo Bonev, assistant professor in econometrics at the University St. Gallen; Ralitsa Ganeva, economics professor at Sofia University, Stanley Gyoshev, lecturer in finance at the University of Exeter; Jeffrey Nilsen, economics professor at the American University in Bulgaria.
