site.btaFootball Legend Hristo Stoitchkov Backs Fundraising Campaign for 111-Metre Rozhen Flagpole

Messages from the 28 administrative districts of Bulgaria will be engraved on a marble slab at the base of the new Monument of Unification - the 111-metre high Rozhen flagpole in the Rhodope Mountains, initiator Heritage in the Future Foundation said Wednesday.

Prof. Andrey Pantev has backed an initiative of the Heritage in the Future Foundation for building a 111-metre pole to fly the Bulgarian flag in the Rhodopi Mountains.

The Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), Kiril Valchev, signed a partnership agreement with the Heritage in the Future Foundation, organizer of the Rozhen National Folklore Fair. The contract was signed at the BTA National Press Club.

On November 1, the National Awakeners Day, a national fundraising campaign entitled "Bulgaria Deserves!" was launched to build a 111-metre pole to fly the Bulgarian flag. The structure, planned for Rozhen in the Rhodope Mountains at 1,430 metres above sea level, would be the tallest of its kind in the EU, the organizers from the Heritage in the Future Foundation said.
