The Interior Ministry reported here on Tuesday that it has introduced additional measures in response to the heavy traffic Danube Bridge.
The Interior Ministry's regional directorates in Razgrad (Northeast Bulgaria), Veliko Turnovo (North-central Bulgaria) and Stara Zagora (South-central Bulgaria) have started pulling over heavy trucks traveling to Danube Bridge in the Danubian city of Ruse. The authorities at the border checkpoint told BTA that the trucks have formed a 20-km line in Ruse on Tuesday. The trucks will be parked in designated areas, where round-the-clock police presence will be ensured. The trucks will be allowed to continue towards Danube Bridge in coordination with the Interior Ministry's regional directorate in Ruse.
An interdepartmental group has been established, which includes deputy ministers of the Interior, of Transport and of Regional Development and Public Works. The group will coordinate the efforts to reduce the heavy traffic, the Interior Ministry said.
Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Hristo Aleksiev and caretaker Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Shishkov are directly engaged in finding a solution to the problem.
