site.btaPirot Railway Fully Restored
At a solemn ceremony in the City Council of the Serbian town Pirot, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic today thanked all those who contributed to the full restoration of the railway line near the town, where ammonia tankers derailed on December 25, 2022, Tanjug reported. Vesic expressed special thanks to Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria Hristo Aleksiev.
Vesic said he had invited Aleksiev to formally thank him for his help in dealing with the aftermath of the railway accident on the Nis-Dimitrovgrad line.
After an ammonia wagon derailed between Pirot and Stanicenje, gas leaked into the atmosphere and 51 people were hospitalised due to symptoms of ammonia poisoning. A state of emergency was also declared in Pirot.
