On Wednesday, Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev presented to the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan the opportunities that the Bulgarian supercomputer Discoverer provides for science and business. It is the Balkans' first high-performance computing machine and processes data at a speed of 6 quadrillion (6,000,000,000,000,000,000) operations per second, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth said on Wednesday

Minister Pulev discussed with Vahagn Khachaturyan and Robert Khachaturian, Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, intensifying cooperation in the fields of innovation, high technologies, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The meeting is part of the state visit of the Armenian President, who is in Bulgaria at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev.

The officials visited Sofia Tech Park, where they discussed opportunities for cooperation with Armenia in high-tech sectors. Vahagn Khachaturyan did a test drive and an exercise from the simulation cycle for training surgeons on the Da Vinci robotic system, the only certified robot in the world for operations in the fields of surgery, gynaecology, urology, and breast surgery.

The newly established Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology - INSAIT, the first world-class institute of its kind in Eastern Europe, was also presented to the guests. INSAIT's main mission is to establish Bulgaria as a leading destination for research and innovation.

Ministers Pulev and Khachatryan also held talks with BESCO - Bulgarian Startup Association, PARA - Professional Association of Robotics and Automation, United Drone Community, and the AI Cluster. Projects involving drones, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and robotics were presented to the two officials.
