Bulgaria's Prime Minister Galab Donev on Friday held a telephone conversation with North Macedonia's Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, the Bulgarian Government Information Service said.

The two discussed the serious criminal offence committed against the Secretary of the King Boris III Association in Ohrid Hristian Pendikov, a national of the Republic of North Macedonia who identifies himself as Bulgarian.

The Bulgarian head of government categorically condemned the beating of Pendikov who sustained grave bodily injuries. Donev described the assault as "completely unacceptable, dangerous criminal act perpetrated against a national of the Republic of North Macedonia who identifies himself as Bulgarian" and demanded that the local authorities immediately take all measures necessary for the protection of Bulgarians in that country against such hate crimes.

Along with that, Prime Minister Donev requested cooperating in arranging the transportation of Pendikov for medical treatment in Bulgaria. Kovacevski expressed readiness for support to Hristian's airlift and for a comprehensive investigation of the case and holding the perpetrators responsible.
